When thinking of my next blog post, my mind went straight to my now 8 month old son and easy baby meal ideas. Every single day I am in the kitchen creating his lunch and dinner. In the beginning, figuring out what to make for him was incredibly stressful. What can he eat? Is this safe? Is he getting enough nutrition? Is the texture right? There are so many questions that come with feeding a baby, and when you are already running on little sleep and doing everything you can to keep a tiny human alive and happy, the last thing you want is to stand in your kitchen completely stumped about what to put on their tray.
If you are a new mom in that exact time right now, this post is for you. After trial and error, lots of googling, and more than a few meals that ended up on the floor rather than in my son’s mouth, I have put together a list of my absolute go-to meal ideas. These are the meals that have made my life so much easier, and I genuinely hope they do the same for you. They are simple, nutritious, baby approved, and most importantly, they do not require you to spend hours in the kitchen every single day.
Before we get into the list, one thing I want to say is that feeding your baby does not need to be perfect. It does not need to be elaborate. What matters most is that your little one is getting nourishment, experiencing different flavors and textures, and enjoying the process of eating. Some days that looks like a beautifully prepared salmon cake, and some days that looks like rotisserie chicken pulled straight off the bird. Both are completely fine, and both count.
Important: I started purees only, at 6 months, before I moved to finger friendly foods. I exposed him to purees of veggies using an emulsion blender. He soon caught on to eating foods himself.

Baby Pancakes
Baby pancakes were one of the first foods I introduced and they have remained a staple ever since. They are soft, easy to pick up, and you can customize them endlessly depending on what you want to add in. We love mixing in mashed banana for natural sweetness and a little extra nutrition. Blueberries are another great addition. You can make a big batch at the start of the week and refrigerate them, making breakfast incredibly easy on busy mornings. Just reheat and serve.

Ingredients:
1 ripe banana mashed
1 egg
2 tablespoons oat flour or all purpose flour
Breastmilk or Milk of choice (goat, whole, oat)
Pinch of cinnamon (optional)
Butter or coconut oil for the pan
Instructions:
Mix the mashed banana and egg together until combined. Stir in the flour and cinnamon if using. Heat a pan over low to medium heat and add a small amount of butter or coconut oil. Drop small spoonfuls of batter onto the pan and cook for about 2 minutes per side until set and lightly golden. Let cool before serving and cut into small pieces if needed.
Shrimp Cakes
I know what you might be thinking. Shrimp for a baby? Yes! Introducing seafood early is actually encouraged by most pediatricians, and shrimp cakes are a wonderful way to do it. They are soft, full of flavor, and packed with protein. We make ours small so they are easy to handle, and my son absolutely loves them. If you are nervous about shellfish allergies, as always, check with your pediatrician before introducing any new allergen.

Ingredients:
1/2 pound shrimp, peeled, deveined, and finely chopped
1/3 cup tofu
1/2 bell pepper diced
1/2 onion diced
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 cup breadcrumbs or all purpose flour
1 egg
1 tablespoon finely chopped parsley
Olive oil for cooking
Instructions: Combine all of your ingrediants except the breadcrumbs in a food processor and process on high for a few seconds. After, add in your breadcrumbs or flour and hand mix until combined. Form into small patties. On a baking pan with parchment paper, bake on 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 10 minutes. Flip and bake for another 10.
Rotisserie Chicken
This one is the ultimate busy mom hack and honestly one of the most underrated easy baby meal idea. Pick up a rotisserie chicken from your grocery store, pull it apart into small, manageable pieces, and you have a high protein, flavorful meal ready in minutes. It is tender enough for babies to handle and versatile enough to pair with almost anything else on this list. We keep one in the fridge almost every week. It is also the ultimate teething toy for dinner, use the bone for them to chew on!

No recipe needed here. Simply pull the chicken apart into small, soft shreds using your fingers or two forks. Focus on the breast meat as it tends to be the softest and easiest for babies to manage. Serve as is or alongside roasted veggies or zucchini noodles for a complete meal.
Egg Strips

Eggs are one of the very best foods you can give your baby, and egg strips are our favorite way to serve them. Whisk your eggs, pour them into a pan, and cook them flat almost like a thin omelette. Once they are done, slice them into strips that little hands can easily pick up and hold. You can add cheese, finely chopped vegetables, or keep them plain. Either way, this is a great easy baby meal idea.
Ingredients:
2 eggs
1 tablespoon shredded cheese (optional)
Small amount of avocado oil for the pan
Instructions: Whisk the eggs together until fully combined. Heat a small pan over low to medium heat and add the butter. Pour in the eggs and let them cook undisturbed until set on top, about 3 to 4 minutes. If using cheese, sprinkle it on top in the last minute of cooking. Slide onto a cutting board and slice into thin strips before serving.
Whipped Bone Marrow on Bread

This is the one that always surprises people when I mention it, but hear me out. Bone marrow is one of the most nutrient dense foods you can give your baby. It is rich in healthy fats, iron, and collagen, and when spread over a soft piece of bread it becomes one of the easiest and most nourishing meals you can put together. Roast the bones in the oven, scoop out the marrow, spread it on bread, and watch your baby go to town. It sounds fancy but it genuinely could not be simpler.
Ingredients: 2 to 4 marrow bones
Soft bread, such as brioche or a soft sourdough
Instructions: Preheat your oven to 450 degrees. Place the marrow bones cut side up on a baking sheet and roast for 15 to 20 minutes until the marrow is soft, bubbly, and just beginning to pull away from the bone. Scoop the marrow out with a small spoon and use an electric beater until nice and whipped. Spread it over a soft piece of bread. Let it cool completely before serving to your baby.
Egg and Cheese Mini Muffins
These are an absolute meal prep staple in our house. Whisk together eggs, shredded cheese, and whatever finely chopped vegetables you have on hand, pour the mixture into a mini muffin tin, and bake. The result is a soft, protein packed little bite that babies love and that keeps well in the refrigerator for several days. Make a big batch on Sunday and you have a ready-to-go meal for the whole week. We make these constantly.

Ingredients:
6 eggs
1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1/4 cup finely chopped vegetables (spinach, bell pepper, zucchini, or whatever you have) Butter or cooking spray for the tin
Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Grease a mini muffin tin well. Whisk the eggs together and stir in the cheese and vegetables. Pour the mixture evenly into the muffin tin, filling each cup about three quarters of the way. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes until set and lightly golden on top. Let cool before removing from the tin and serving.
Baby French Toast Strips
Slightly sweet, incredibly soft, and easy for little hands to hold, baby french toast strips are one of those meals that feels like a treat but is actually quite nutritious. Use a soft bread, dip it in an egg and milk mixture, cook it low and slow, and slice into strips before serving. You can dust with a tiny bit of cinnamon for extra flavor. My son lights up every single time these hit his tray.

Ingredients:
2 slices soft bread, such as brioche or whole wheat
1 egg
2 tablespoons breastmilk or milk of choice (goat, whole, oat)
Pinch of cinnamon
Butter for the pan
Instructions: Whisk together the egg, milk, and cinnamon in a shallow bowl. Dip each slice of bread into the mixture, letting it soak for about 30 seconds per side. Heat a pan over low to medium heat and add a small amount of butter. Cook each slice for about 2 to 3 minutes per side until golden and cooked through. Let cool and slice into strips before serving.
Zucchini Noodles
Zucchini noodles are one of my favorite ways to get vegetables into my son without any fuss. When cooked properly they become wonderfully soft and easy for babies to manage. Toss them with a little olive oil and you have a simple, healthy side that pairs beautifully with almost any protein on this list. You can also mix in a little tomato sauce if you want to introduce more flavor. Simple, quick, and genuinely good for them.

Ingredients:
1 medium zucchini, spiraled or cut into thin strips
1 teaspoon olive oil
Small amount of tomato sauce (optional)
Instructions: Either with a peeler or a spiralizer, create your noodles. Steam the zucchini noodles until softened with a pot steamer. Throw these on a plate and add a little splash of toamto sauce.
Veggie Mini Muffins
Similar to the egg and cheese muffins, veggie mini muffins are another meal prep hero. The beauty of these is that you can load them up with whatever vegetables you have sitting in your fridge. Zucchini, carrots, sweet potato, spinach, all of it works. Bake a big batch, store them in the fridge, and pull them out whenever you need a quick and easy option. They freeze beautifully too, which makes them one of the most practical things on this entire list.

Ingredients:
1 cup finely grated or chopped vegetables (zucchini, carrot, sweet potato, or a mix)
1 egg
1/4 cup whole milk
1/2 cup oat flour or all purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 tablespoon olive oil
Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Grease a mini muffin tin well. Mix together the egg, milk, and olive oil. Stir in the flour and baking powder until just combined, then fold in the vegetables. Fill each muffin cup about three quarters of the way and bake for 15 to 18 minutes until set and lightly golden. Let cool completely before serving.
Sweet Potato Muffins
Sweet potato muffins deserve their own spotlight because they are genuinely one of my son’s all time favorites. They are naturally sweet, incredibly soft, and loaded with vitamins and fiber. We make ours simple so the sweet potato flavor really shines through, but you can also add a little cinnamon or nutmeg for warmth. These disappear fast in our house, so I always make a double batch for an easy baby meal.

Ingredients:
1 cup mashed sweet potato (from about 1 medium sweet potato, roasted or boiled)
1 egg
1/4 cup breastmilk or milk of choice (whole milk, goat, oat)
1/2 cup oat flour or all purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder Pinch of cinnamon (optional)
Instructions: Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Grease a mini muffin tin well. Whisk together the mashed sweet potato, egg, and milk until smooth. Stir in the flour, baking powder, and cinnamon if using until just combined. Fill each muffin cup about three quarters of the way and bake for 15 to 18 minutes until set. Let cool completely before serving.
Salmon Cakes
Just like the shrimp cakes, salmon cakes are a fantastic way to introduce fish to your baby early and get those incredible omega-3 fatty acids into their diet. They are soft, easy to make, and babies tend to love the mild flavor. We use canned salmon to keep things simple and a quick easy baby meal. Form them into small patties, cook them up, and you have a nutritious meal on the table in under fifteen minutes.

Ingredients:
2 filets salmon
1 egg
2 tablespoons breadcrumbs or oat flour
1 tablespoon finely chopped parsley or dill
1 tablespoon dijon mustard
Olive oil for cooking
Instructions: Combine the salmon, egg, breadcrumbs, and herbs in a bowl and mix well. Form into small patties. On a baking sheet with parchment paper, bake on 350 degrees farenheit for 10 minutes one side, flip, 10 minutes the other side.
Meatballs (Turkey or Ground Beef)
Meatballs are one of the most versatile things you can make for your baby. They are soft enough to eat, easy to make in large batches, and they freeze wonderfully. We alternate between turkey and ground beef depending on what we have on hand. Both work beautifully. You can keep the seasoning simple or mix in finely chopped vegetables for an extra nutritional boost. Serve them on their own, with zucchini noodles, or alongside some roasted veggies for a complete easy baby meal idea.

Ingredients:
1 pound ground turkey or ground beef
1 egg
1/4 cup breadcrumbs or oat flour
1/4 cup finely grated onion (optional)
1 teaspoon dried parsley
1 cup of grated parmigiano reggiano
1 tablespoon garlic powder
1 tablespoon black pepper
Instructions: Preheat your oven to 375 degrees. Combine all ingredients in a bowl and mix until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat. Roll into small balls, about the size of a large marble, and place on a lined baking sheet. Bake for 15 to 18 minutes until cooked through. Let cool completely before serving. Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days or freeze for later..
